McClain Delaney Statement on Reports of Ongoing ICE Presence Across Frederick Communities
Residents report federal agents have remained near residential neighborhoods for more than 30 hours
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman April McClain Delaney (MD-06) today issued the following statement in response to reports of a heavy and ongoing presence of federal immigration agents across several Frederick communities:
“I am closely monitoring reports that ICE agents and multiple vehicles have maintained a sustained presence across residential neighborhoods in Frederick for more than 30 hours. According to community members, residents have consistently observed between two and eight vehicles in the area since this activity began.
“Families—including many with lawful immigration status—are staying inside and scared to come out. No family should feel unsafe simply living in their own neighborhood.
“I’ve reached out to local officials for a full accounting of what’s happening on the ground, and I’ll have more to say once I know the facts. In the meantime, my office is available to any constituent who needs help or has questions about their rights.”
