Immigration Issues & Resources in the Sixth District

Immigration Issues & Resources in the Sixth District

Congresswoman McClain Delaney is staunchly opposed to the unlawful, inhumane actions taken by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since the beginning of the Trump Administration’s second term. Aggressive immigration enforcement actions have hurt communities throughout the nation, including those in the Sixth District and across Maryland. She is fighting in Congress for commonsense reforms to immigration enforcement.

Know Your Rights

It is important that all U.S. citizens and immigrants (regardless of legal status) know their rights when interacting with law enforcement or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. We have a 'Know Your Rights' resource to help you navigate interactions with ICE agents and legal resources. We also have bilingual palm cards that can be printed and carried with you that provide translated instructions to law enforcement officers. These resources are available in six languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean, French, and Farsi.

ICE’s Planned Detention Warehouse

The Congresswoman is vehemently opposed to ICE’s plans for a 1,500-bed detention warehouse in Washington County. ICE purchased this facility without community input, environmental review, or communication. She is leading efforts with Governor Wes Moore, Maryland’s Congressional delegation, and state and local elected officials and community leaders to push for answers, accountability, and transparency.

STATUS (as of April 15, 2026): A federal court has issued a preliminary injunction to HALT DHS’s construction and operation of its detention warehouse. See a statement from Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown.
