Congresswoman April McClain Delaney Commends President Biden’s Declaration of the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman April McClain Delaney released the following statement commending President Biden for declaring that the Equal Rights Amendment is ratified:
“This powerful act by President Biden is a moment for great celebration, but equally important, deserved recognition of the leaders of this movement who for decades faced adversity and discrimination but nevertheless continued to march steadfastly toward progress. We stand on your shoulders today.
Publishing the Equal Rights Amendment will enshrine gender equality in the U.S. Constitution and fortify the equal rights of Americans under law regardless of gender, clearing the way for gender pay equity, stronger protections against gender-based violence, and strengthened laws defending bodily autonomy.
I strongly urge the Archivist of the United States to rightfully recognize the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution.
