McClain Delaney focuses on district's needs, tough votes at start of first term
Friday marked another step in a month of firsts for U.S. Rep. April McClain Delaney, as part of her transition as a new member of Congress.
Rick Weldon, the president and CEO of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, had just introduced McClain Delaney to the crowd gathered for the official opening of her district office at 30 W. Patrick St. in downtown’s Frederick Center.
Not that she needed an introduction to most people in the room. Many of them were active in the local political and social communities, and supported her in her race to win the seat in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.
Despite living in Montgomery County, McClain Delaney said she talks about Frederick to her colleagues on Capitol Hill and people around Washington as an example of a community that has done a good job of matching needs to resources.
“My heart really is so much in this community. I love Frederick,” she said.
