McClain Delaney, Van Hollen Host Town Hall with More Than 1,500 Attendees

HAGERSTOWN, MD—Today, Congresswoman April McClain Delaney and Senator Chris Van Hollen hosted a town hall at North Hagerstown High School, engaging directly with Marylanders to discuss critical issues including the ongoing trade war under the Trump administration, devastating cuts to federal funding and agencies and the impact on Maryland communities. The event was attended both in-person and virtually by more than 1,500 Maryland residents.

During the hour-long town hall, the lawmakers addressed pressing concerns raised by attendees about the future of vital federal programs, such as Social Security, Medicaid and SNAP—all of which have faced significant threats from both the Trump administration and the majorities in Congress. A major focus of the discussion was the impact of President Trump's tariffs, which will lead to increased costs for everyday goods, including groceries, clothing, household appliances and auto repairs, putting additional financial strain on Maryland families.

“We must work together to create a more effective and efficient government that truly serves the American people,” said Congresswoman McClain Delaney. “Unfortunately, the actions of the Trump administration over the last few months have done the opposite, creating confusion and chaos instead of progress. I’ve heard from tens of thousands of Marylanders who are deeply concerned about how these policies will affect their families, farms, and businesses. I represent more than 35,000 federal employees in my district, as well as many others who rely on these critical programs to make ends meet. Marylanders: we have your back.”
